A BUSINESSWOMAN from the Luxor Group says she is “honoured” after being made an ambassador for homeless charity Teardrops.

Kristina Metcalf, head of business development at the luxury property developing firm which has taken over the former Tyrer’s building and most recently Claughton House, will now represent the charity across the Liverpool city region.

She will be devising new, innovative fundraising ideas and organising events to raise awareness about Teardrops, which is a non-profitable organisation set up to support the homeless in St Helens and surrounding areas.

Earlier this year, Luxor Group alongside Lloyds Bank, handed over a £1000 cheque to help the charity with their ambition of opening a night shelter.

Kristina said: “I am honoured to become a Teardrops ambassador. Both I and the team at Teardrops are passionate about tackling homelessness in the North West and finding a real, long-term solution.

“I am looking forward to raising awareness, inspiring others to get involved and hosting events which bring the whole community together to support this amazing charity.

Teardrops was set up by Shauni Ward with the aim to support the homeless and provide opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential.

They help support four hostels in the borough, as well as running a night café and street outreach service four nights a week.

The charity also works with many schools and regularly run workshops for pupils to attend.

To date the charity has supported hundreds of people, identified during outreach activities, and provided rucksacks containing supplies such as toothbrushes and hats to those who need them.

Kristina will be hosting ‘Under The Stars’ a charity night in support of Teardrops.

The evening will be held at the Mercure Hotel in St Helens on Friday, September 15 at 6pm.
