HUNDREDS turned out on Monday to pay respects to a 27-year-old sportsman who died after falling 230ft from Mount Snowdon.

Mourners wore red to say goodbye to their son, brother and friend Mally Tinsley at St Helens Crematorium at noon.

Mally was a personal trainer from Parr who had competed in bodybuilding, powerlifting and boxing and went up Snowdon with a friend who was an experienced climber but sadly lost his balance and fell.

Floral tributes included those shaped like the strongman sword he admired and weights as well as the words Simba in red – his favourite colour.

His dad Malcolm said: “We are all in such shock and are just trying to deal with it all but we were both made up with him.

“I loved him to bits from the moment he was born and we will all have a missing piece in our lives now without him. The house feels empty.

“It’s just destroyed us but I couldn’t be prouder of my son who was an extremely caring and loving family man who had so much time for others.

“He loved his training, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mike Tyson and tried hard in everything he did. He was good at everything he tried and often beat people training for years.”

Tributes have been paid to the former St Cuthbert’s pupil on social media with his friends calling him a "diamond pal" and a “belting lad in the gym, who got on with everyone."
