THERE will be more eye-catching displays on show at Mesnes Park as the Newton Town Show returns again this year.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 5 with entertainment including a parachute display team from the Army Royal Logistics Corps and a motorcycle stunt and display team.

Also on show will be helicopter pleasure flights, a live artillery firing display, a First World War weapons display, a 103 Regiment display, classic car show, police, fire and ambulance demonstrations, market stalls, fun fair with a free classic bus service to and from Earlestown all day.

Anyone with a classic car that they would like to attend and put on display, can arrive at Mesnes Park off Park Road North before 11am on the day.

The parachute display will take place at around 1pm.

Chairman of the organising committee and Newton councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron said: "It's set to be another fantastic year at the 2017 Newton Town Show and I have to thank the local businesses like THINK! Estate Agents, Starbank Panels and many others who have helped to sponsor the show this year.

"The profits from the show are put into future community events organised by NECG and I'd like to thank our hardcore group of volunteers for their hard work.

"See you on the first Saturday in August in Mesnes Park!"

People can also visit NewtonTownShow.com and pay £2 to enter a raffle to win a helicopter tour of Newton-le-Willows and other prizes.
