TWO children have been taken to hospital following a two-car collision near Haydock Park racecourse yesterday afternoon, says North West Ambulance.
A crash involving a Citroen and Toyota took place close to where Warrington Road and Lodge Lane meet shortly before 5pm.
It is believed one of the cars collided with an electricity box.
Police attended and Lodge Lane was closed both ways and reopened at around 6.30pm.
Ambulance and fire crews were also called shortly before 5pm.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said a 28-year-old woman and a 32-yar-old man had been assessed at the scene along with children aged two, three and seven.
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance said: "Several people were involved and had minor injuries.
"Also, a child with a significant head injury was taken to Alder Hey and another child was taken with a shoulder injury."
