THREE school boys' disappointment turned to delight when a 50-strong motorbike escort turned up to take them to their primary school leavers' prom.
Eleven-year-olds Ben Hessey, Kian Cunliffe and Jak Bolan, from St John Vianney School, could not get a lift in a limousine like some school leavers.
So the three boys' parents got together to provide alternative transport - and decided to try to get them a ride each to the prom on the back of motorbikes.
"One of the boys' dads has a bike and my step-dad does, so we were looking for a third – we just wanted a bike for each of the lads," said Bex Johnson, Ben's mum, "but the word spread and bikers from different clubs across Merseyside and Lancashire turned up and rode behind them to the prom. The boys were amazed, totally overwhelmed!
"We want to thank all the bikers who came along. It was fantastic and made the prom night unforgettable for the boys - it's a memory they'll have for the rest of their lives."
Ben, Kian and Jak, who are all going on to De La Salle High School, attended their prom on Friday, July 14 at Mercure St Helens, formerly the Chalon Court Hotel.
Mum-of-four Bex, 29, said: "One of the bikers, a woman, told the boys she would come and ride with them again for their secondary prom!"
