A WOMAN was checked by paramedics after a fire started in a bedroom at a property in Haydock yesterday.

At around midday on Monday two fire engines attended a house on Clipsley Lane, Haydock

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and then ventilated the area using a PPV fan.

The fire service said a woman was checked at the scene by paramedics but did not require further treatment.

They added that an airing cupboard was severely damaged by the fire and there was light smoke damage in other parts of the house.

Firefighters remained at the scene for around 20 minutes.
