A MAN who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs after a car crashed into a police station has been released under investigation.
On Wednesday night the man was arrested after a Ford Fiesta crashed into the front of Prescot Police Station on Derby Street at around 11.15pm.
The crash has caused damage to the front wall of the station building.
After the crash, a Merseyside Police spokesman said: "It caused damage to the front wall and Knowsley Council attended and deemed the station to be unsafe to enter.
"As a result a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit due to drink or drugs.
"It's not an operational station and there is no suggestion that there was a targeted element to it."
A spokesman added today the man has now been released while enquiries continue.
