MP Conor McGinn has Tweeted to express his disappointment that Helen's Law was not included in the Queen's Speech despite the "massive support" it has attracted.
He followed the Tweet this afternoon (Tuesday) with a second saying he intends to bring the law forward again before Parliament and he will ask all ministers and MPs to support the bill.
The MP for St Helens North is backing Marie McCourt's campaign for a change in the law for convicted murderers.
Marie, from Billinge, is the mother of Helen McCourt, who was murdered aged 22 almost 30 years ago by pub landlord Ian Simms - who has never disclosed the whereabouts of her remains.
She has been seeking for Helen’s Law to be adopted, meaning convicted murderers, who refuse to disclose where their victims’ bodies are, would remain behind bars.
To sign a petition for Helen’s Law, visit change.org/HelensLaw – or write to Prime Minister Theresa May at 10 Downing Street, London SW1A 2AA.
Marie suggests using the following wording: ‘I wish to state my support for Helen’s Law, that convicted killers are denied parole unless they co-operate in the search for their victims. I also ask for the acts of preventing a burial and obstructing a coroner to become criminal offences.’
