A JURY has retired to consider its verdict in the trial of a woman who is accused of murdering her partner.
Judge Menary QC has sent the jury to find a unanimous verdict into the case following a two-week trial of Karolina Rutkowska, 35, of Cross Farm Road, Peasley Cross who denies murder.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that the Polish defendant, admitted to stabbing her partner Mireslaw Kowalczuk at their home on Cross Farm Road on December 27, 2016, but denies intent.
Kowalczuk, 30, also Polish, died on the kitchen floor of their home after he suffered one stab wound to the heart following a row.
Rutkowska went to her neighbours to alert emergency services but despite emergency surgery at the scene, he was declared dead at the scene.
A 15cm bladed knife was found on a kitchen work surface.
Rutkowska claims she held out the knife to scare him but that he “impaled” himself of the knife.
The case continues.
