A HORSE and a dog have died after a fire ravaged a temporary stables in Newton-le-Willows.
Firefighters were called to the blaze which broke out at the stables on Junction Lane.
The fire broke out shortly before 4.30pm on Friday (June 16) and crews spent around an hour and 20 minutes tackling the flames.
A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service statement said: "Three fire engines attended the incident and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and a main branch to extinguish the fire.
"No-one was injured but a horse and a dog sadly perished.
"The stables, a downspout and a quantity of metal cladding was damaged by fire.
"Firefighters remained at the scene for around one hour and 20 minutes."
