POLICE were on hand to provide reassurance to fans during Saints' derby win against Wigan on Thursday night.
Armed police were seen outside the stadium after the force vowed to have an increased presence in the wake of Monday's horrific terrorist attack in Manchester.
This formed part of an effort by Merseyside Police to see "increased policing and security presence" for "major public events".
As well as providing the extra security, officers mingled with fans and posed for pictures with youngsters outside the stadium ahead of the match, which saw Mark percival's late winning try see Saints beat their old rivals 22-19.
