A NEW tenpin bowling alley and family entertainment complex will open at the West Point site in the spring of next year.

Confirmation of the new facility, to be called Superbowl UK St Helens, brings an end to long-term speculation over a bowling alley coming to the town centre development.

The announcement comes after Tex-Mex restaurant Chiquitos already confirmed it will open at the site opposite Cineworld cinema later this year.

An Aldi superstore and Costa Coffee drive-thru are already in operation at the location.

The new complex will provide 12 state-of-the-art ten-pin bowling lanes, a Crazy Club Soft Play Centre, a ‘Ninja Warrior’ trampoline style assault course, amusement arcade along with a stylish food diner and boutique lounge sports bar.

Superbowl UK confirmed it has signed a 25-year lease on the 24,000 square foot section of the leisure complex and will invest more than £1.8 million on the fit out ahead of its opening.

The facility will create 35 jobs once open and the company says local trades will be used through the fit out process.

Superbowl UK director Kate Quaintance-Blackford said: “Superbowl UK St Helens presents us with an opportunity to bring our distinctive brand of family entertainment into Merseyside, where we believe it will prove extremely popular.

“We have been extremely encouraged by the enthusiastic response to our nearby Widnes centre, and are delighted to be able to expand our presence within the locality.

“We are one of very few companies in the UK offering all of these facilities under one roof and, because of that, we’re very confident about the success of the new site here in St Helens.”
