'Don't blame the council'
EVERYONE blames the council for the plight of St Helens town centre but it doesn’t control the rent or business rates.
Shopping habits have changed and people travel further now to shop. Poundland has rented the former BHS but the council couldn’t have stopped this as it was already a retail premises.
So only Poundland and landlords would have been involved.
