RESIDENTS are being encouraged to put their best foot forward - and prepare to be splatted! - by registering for Willowbrook's 2017 Moonlight Walk which takes place on Saturday, June 10.

Every year hundreds of people take part in the event, walking through the streets of St Helens and Knowsley sporting flashing pink bunny ears, cowboy hats, tutus... all to help raise funds for Willowbrook Hospice.

Diane Humphreys, senior fundraiser at Willowbrook, said: "The Moonlight Walk is a fantastic event for all the family. Although a lot of participants walk to remember their loved ones, many just to walk for fun and to soak up the atmosphere as they help raise vital funds to support the hospice.

"As it's Willowbrook's 20th anniversary we've decided to include a special 'colour splash' as part of the walk… so prepare to get messy as our team of volunteers cover you from head to toe in multi-coloured powder! But don't worry if you don't want to take part in the splash - there is also a 'Non Colour Splash Zone'.

"This year we're setting a fundraising target of £40,000 for the Moonlight Walk - which is the equivalent of funding 87 hours of care at the hospice. Any donations entrants can raise through sponsorship can really make a huge difference so please ask friends, family and work colleagues to support you."

There are two Moonlight Walk routes to choose from - a 10k and a 6.5k - both of which will start at 9pm at Willowbrook: The Living Well, in Borough Road, and take you through St Helens and Knowsley, passing the hospice along the way.

To get walkers in the mood, entertainment will be provided by DJ Terryokee, dancers from the Jan Williams Theatre School and the Anvil Street Drummers.

Just before the start of the walk, there will be a chance for people to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved one with a special balloon release.

Entry is £15 for adults and £5 for children aged 16 and under. This includes a Moonlight Walk t-shirt, souvenir medal, refreshments en route and on completion of the challenge.
