CARLEY Stenson is "truly honoured and proud" to be starring in the West End production of Les Miserables as one of the leading ladies.

The 34-year-old actress and singer, will be starring in the role of Fantine, singing massive numbers like I Dreamed a Dream, that have made the show, now in its record breaking 33rd year, a huge success.

She will star alongside a new cast including Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean from Monday, June 12 at the iconic Queen Theatre in Leicester Square.

The former Hollyoaks actress, who as a youngster won a Young Star talent competition with this newspaper, said: “I am extremely excited about joining the Cast of Les Miserables as Fantine.

“To me this show is the most prestigious as it's the one, as students studying performing arts, you dreamed of being in.

“It is an epic piece with the most amazing score; where you have the chance and ability to sing.

“I can't believe I get to do that with one of the most recognisable songs in musical theatre history.

“I am feeling truly honoured and proud.”

This isn’t Carley’s first West End stint, with credits including the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical and Lady of the Lake in Spamalot.

She also starred as Christine Colgate in the tour of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Carley, from Billinge, is still well known for her award-nominated role as Steph Cunningham in Channel 4's Hollyoaks and is due to marry fiancé Danny Mac, who shot to fame in Strictly Come Dancing.
