COMEDIAN John Bishop took a run around Taylor Park as he helped youngster George Mathias with his fundraising mission.
The 10-year-old has been taking one-mile runs in aid of Alder hey Hospital – and has had a host celebrity running mates alongside him.
George came up with the idea to raise funds for the hospital, which saved his younger brother James’ life.
George decided to run a mile for each month that he has spent with six-year-old James, taking on 75 in total.
Since George started with family and friends in January, he has run with Saints captain Jon Wilkin, Olympic swimmer Fran Halsall and Liverpool FC legends Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and John Barnes.
He also ran with Everton star Leighton Baines over the Easter holidays and has been joined by soapstars Kelvin Fletcher from Emmerdale and Coronation Street’s Samia Longchambon.
“We ran around Taylor Park and there were a few surprised faces in the park that day,” said dad Richard, 45. By the end of April fundraising should be up to £25,000. George is over halfway and has done 42 of his miles. And he’s still loving it.”
