A SECOND man was arrested on suspicion of affray following an altercation in Fingerpost yesterday (Monday) morning.

Police received a report of two men involved in a fight at about 9am outside a shop on Higher Parr Street.


Following enquiries at the scene, a 49-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of affray and was taken to a police station where he was interviewed by detectives. He has since been released pending a disposal decision.


A second man, aged 40, was also later arrested on suspicion of affray after been treated for injuries in hospital.

He has also been released pending a disposal decision.


A police spokesman said "minor injuries" were sustained during the incident.

Police received a report of two men involved in a fight at about 9am outside a shop on Higher Parr Street, with one believed to have been in possession of a knife.

Following enquiries at the scene, a 49-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been taken to a police station where he is to be interviewed by detectives.

A police spokesman said: "Merseyside Police has arrested a man on suspicion of affray following an incident in St Helens this morning, (Monday, March 27).

"At around 9am, a report was received of a man outside a shop on Higher Parr Street in possession of a weapon, and involved in an altercation with a second man at the location.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether anyone has attended hospital with any injuries."
