16 taxi drivers prosecuted and 20 vehicles written off after police safety operation
AN operation across the borough resulted in 20 taxis being identified with safety issues.
Tweets from the St Helens branch of Merseyside Police suggested 16 drivers would face prosecution.
Further action including the team stopping a van that was 1,200kg overweight.
A speeding driver was stopped and identified as having defective tyres.
