AN ANIMAL lover is hoping to stage the 10th edition of an annual dog show which he created later this year.

Adam Fraser, 33, has been the driving force behind the Paws In The Park event which returns to Sherdley Park again.

The show was initially the Taylor Park Family Fun Day which began in 2008 and after it proved a great success it eventually outgrew the original venue and was moved to Sherdley Park in 2015 and renamed Paws In The Park For The Dogs Trust Merseyside.

The show raises money for the Dogs Trust, having previously raised proceeds for the RSPCA, where Adam used to work.

Adam is thrilled to have seen the event, grow from its first year when around 200 people turned up, with thousands now attending each year.

Despite having left the RSPCA, Adam has continued the annual event and is asking for the community's help to ensure the show can be held again to help animals in need.

"We need about four to £5,000 to get things off the ground," said Adam, from Grange Park.

"It usually comes from donations and I have a stall but I'm finding it very hard this year and I need a bit of community help and want it to get support like the Newton Town Show.

"Last year there were three to four thousand who came from all over. I have always been an animal lover, my whole family has been and I don't like any animals been hurt or neglected."

Adam is hoping for this year's event to include a mini-concert in addition to the dog show, stalls and usual entertainment to celebrate its 10th anniversary. And Adam is putting the call out for any companies or people who can help with the show and concert.

"I'm trying to get some of the bands and Sonya Hurst has agreed to come along."
