DRONE photographer Steve Samosa captured a series of stunning eye-in-the-sky images as an Eccleston farm hosted a ploughing match featuring new and vintage tractors from across the UK battling it out for a chance at the national qualifiers.

The Makerfield Ploughing Society hosted the event, which was held at Brook House Farm on Catchdale Moss Lane on Sunday March 12.

Farm tenant John Shacklady, 36 said: “We have been hosting the event for the past 10 years since the society decided to revive it and its great.

“They raise money for Willowbrook Hospice, Wigan and Leigh Hospice and the Air Ambulance and the event is getting bigger and better each year.”

The winners of three of the competitions, which sees competitors plough an area of field for points, are put forward for the national qualifiers for the British National Ploughing Championships and Country Festival.
