A RUGBY super fan has decided to create a sleeve tattoo of St Helens legends, including artwork of Steve Prescott, Keiron Cunningham and Johnny Vegas.

Dad-of-two Graeme Bannister from Parr, loves the town so much that he has dedicated his arm to faces of its biggest names.

The 39-year-old support worker, whose artwork has been designed and tattooed at Skin Kandi Tattoo Studio on Westfield Street, said: “It started when Steve Prescott died, I wanted to pay tribute to him and with being a massive rugby fan I just had the idea of making a legends sleeve.

“I didn’t want it to just be rugby though either as I am proud of this town and how we all stick together through thick and thin so after my Cunningham tattoo I decided to feature all the greats.

“I got to meet Johnny Vegas when he came to shoot the Stillia video and he just loved my tattoo of him.

“He’s done so much for the town as many people from here do, he’s just ace and a real legend.

“However, you can’t have a legends sleeve without featuring the biggest one of them all, Johnny Wellies, and I’ll be adding that to my arm very very soon.”

Future ideas for tattoos also feature Paul Wellens and Graeme’s niece Nicole Burrows, who does a lot of work with setting up gigs in Manchester and Liverpool.

The former St Cuthbert’s pupil added: “I used to put this town down when I was a kid but honestly this is a brilliant place to live.

“Even if some people think I’m nuts, I am going to celebrate that.”
