WHEN dad Chris Scott decided to test out his DIY skills by giving his sons' bedrooms a fresh look, he set out with ambitions to create a space they could only dream of.

But with very little room and no experience he had to get creative.

Chris Scott, 27, from Sutton, set himself a four month challenge to transform the sleeping quarters of sons Callum 10, Charlie, five, and Oliver, four.

After telling the boys that there was a hole in the roof above their bedrooms and working on the secret project after work and at the weekends he finally made the big reveal just in time for Christmas.

The result is two modern rooms, including one for the youngest boys which is equipped with a built in bunk bed with spy holes. The other, for eldest Callum, boasts a trendy bed with colour changing lights.

Chris, a plumber by trade, said: “I just felt like the boys really needed rooms that they were proud of and would encourage them to learn and play together.

“The rooms they had before were fine but not inspiring for them, I just set my mind to it and moved all three of them into our bedroom and moved us on to an air bed in the lounge until I got it done.

“I looked online for inspiration but the final designs were my own and to see them really excited now and playing in their rooms makes it all worthwhile.”

Proud of his DIY masterpiece, Chris’ wife Gemma, 28, posted pictures of the before and after shots of the bedrooms on a Facebook page, receiving more than 7,000 likes.

She added: “I am so proud of Chris, what he has given our boys made our Christmas ten times better, they were just so excited.

“I am really proud of him and it goes to show that if someone sets their mind to something even if you have now experience you can do it."
