HOLIDAYS came to St Helens on Tuesday when the town hosted the famous Coca-Cola truck.

Thousands turned out to see the truck, which rolled up at Tesco Extra in St Helens from 1pm to 9pm.

Queues were already forming at noon and visitors, who all received a free can of coke, posede for photos with Santa, took part in a truck tour experience, visited the winter wonderland and watched a special animation, which was held in the evening.

First in the queue were sisters Melissa, 19, and Holly Lawrenson, 22, from Windle, who brought baby Robyn, 14 months, along with them.

Melissa said: "We wanted to come and see this to get into the Christmas spirit. We were a bit early and first in the queue, then lots of people suddenly started to arrive behind us."

Karen Bassnett, from Prescot, came with son Michael and 19-month-old grandson Jack.

She said: "We went shopping first and then came to queue up. I've seen it before, I love it, it's really Christmassy.

"I wanted to bring my grandson - I'm more excited than him though"

Joanne Leyland, 34, from The Shires, brought daughter Holly, three, to the truck.

Joanne said: "She's only just starting to learn about Christmas and I don't think she'll properly understand until she's a bit older but this is one way to introduce the fun of Christmas."
