A CURRY chef has picked up a prestigious award celebrating Bangladeshi cuisine.

The 11th annual BCA Awards at the Park Plaza Hotel in Westminster saw Habibur Rahman Chowdhury, of the Moss Bank Tandoori named as chef of the year.

The glitzy event was hosted by Irish celebrity chef Rachel Allen and radio and television host Raj Ghai.

Mr Chowdhury was one of nine chefs honoured on the night.

Amongst the guests were Brexit minister David Davis MP, Lord Karan Bilimoria, Sir Keir Starmer MP Holborn and St Pancreas, Paul Scully MP Sutton and Cheam and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Curry Industry.

Pasha Khandaker, president of the BCA, said: "It’s incredibly vital that we recognize and reward all the hard work and dedication that British Curry houses undertake all over the UK and provide the phenomenal growth and contribution to the British Curry Industry.

"Exceptional congratulations for achievements to restaurants, talented chefs and to all our winners."

The BCA is the umbrella organization of approximately 12,000 British-Bangladeshi restaurants across the UK.
