DETECTIVES have questioned two men in connection with a terrifying attempted heist at a town centre jewellers.
The Huyton men, aged 34 and 28, were arrested and interviewed by police investigating the incident at GS Milton Jewellers on Ormskirk Street.
A gang on motorbikes attempted to raid the town centre store using sledgehammers on Friday, October 7 before fleeing the scene.
Police confirmed the two men have now been released while further enquiries take place.
CCTV images and a reader’s video taken at the time showed how the gang of four tried to smash the front window of the jewellers.
Staff at the shop were unharmed but left shaken. One young mum said two of the bikers narrowly missed knocking over her young daughter, who was stood nearby as they fled the scene.
The gang wore dark clothing and one wore a helmet bearing a distinctive design of a jester’s hat over a skeleton animal skull.
