A MAN will appear in court this morning after being charged in connection with a stabbing in Eccleston on Friday. 

Michael Hodkinson, 20, from Brynn Street, St Helens was charged on Sunday with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. 

The charges are connected to an incident at a property on Brooklands Road, Eccleston, which left a 20-year-old man wounded at 7.10am on Friday.

Hodkinson has been kept in custody to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Adult Remand Court on Monday, October 31.

The injured man rushed to hospital for treatment where his condition is described as serious but stable.

A 27-year-old man from Eccleston, who was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assault, has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries. 

Detective Inspector Cath Haggerty from St Helens CID said: “I would urge anyone with information to contact us now, whether directly or anonymously. 

“This assault will have been discussed by many people in the Eccleston area since Friday morning, so if you have any information about what happened, do the right thing and come forward.”
