SAINTS are remaining tight-lipped about a potential renaming of their Langtree Park stadium for the next Super League season.
It is understood the club has been in talks over a potential naming rights deal since earlier this year.
The agreement with developers Langtree, who led the construction of the £30m stadium, expires at the end of this year.
It is believed St Helens Council has been informed of a potential name change because Langtree Park is listed on numerous road signs throughout the borough.
Saints have been linked with Lancashire-based e-cigarette company Totally Wicked, who have been sponsors of the stadium’s North Stand since 2013, but the club would not comment on speculation.
Securing stadium naming rights investment from sponsors is becoming an increasing trend through many sports, leading to more and more commercialised and often changing venue names.
When Saints christened their stadium Langtree Park, the club said it had “grace and style”, with echoes of Australian giants Brisbane Broncos’ famous former Lang Park home.
