A ST HELENS care home has won its second national award for delivering 'outstanding and compassionate care at the end of life'.

Stocks Hall Care Home, in Elderflower Road, Dentons Green, provides care for adults with physical disabilities and young onset dementia.

The home, comprised of four purpose-built units, has achieved the highest accolade - The Beacon Quality Hallmark Award - from the National Gold Standards Framework Centre, which is the UK's largest provider of training in end-of-life care.

Julie Gaskell, Stocks Hall manager said: "It is an honour to have achieved this award; I am so proud of everyone here at Stocks Hall and all that they do each day.

"Their kindness, compassion, dedication and commitment continue to take my breath away. They are a truly wonderful team to work with. I thank them all, not just from myself but more importantly on behalf of the people who live here and their friends and family too. They are an inspiration."

Stocks Hall staff attended a conference at the Ambassadors Bloomsbury Hotel in London, where they collected their award from Janet Williamson, the CQC (Care Quality Commission) Deputy Chief Inspector.
