AN AMBITIOUS vision for for Prescot will go on show at a market place event in the town centre on Tuesday, October 4.

Knowlsey Council says there are exciting plans afoot for Prescot, including a new Shakespeare North playhouse development, the ongoing work of the Townscape Heritage Initiative to restore historic buildings and the development of a masterplan for the town centre.

Visitors are being invited to drop in at the former Somerfield shop unit on the ground floor of the Prescot Shopping Centre between 10.30am and 2pm where there will be lots more information and people on hand to answer questions.

These will include representatives from:

  • Shopping centre owners Group Geraud
  • Knowsley Place Board
  • Prescot Townscape Heritage Initiative
  • Shakespeare North Trust
  • Knowsley Council

Cllr Mike Murphy, Knowsley Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic development, said: “These are really exciting times for Prescot, which stands on the cusp of an exciting new era with so many different projects working to develop and improve the town.

“People may be aware of some of the projects, such as the Shakespeare North Theatre or the heritage restoration work, but the Market Place event is a good way to find out some of the other work that is going on which people may know less about.

“Whether you live, work or are looking to invest in the area, this will be a really valuable opportunity to see what the future looks like for Prescot, and what it will mean for you.”
