A TAKEAWAY is looking to put the "icing on the cake" after an amazing year by winning the British Takeaway Awards for the second time in a row.

Brunch, based in Greenes Road, Whiston saw off stiff competition to scoop the award for Best takeaway in the North West last year, being presented with the award at a lavish ceremony by Vernon Kay and Tess Daly.

And there was more success for the cafe, founded by Sharon Carline three years ago, as it was listed as a Hungry Horse top takeaway.

Now Sharon is hoping to defend Brunch's BTAs title with nominations now open.

Clients include Liverpool FC and Knowsley Council, who regularly order from the cafe's small menu of great quality products.

“To win the British Takeaway Awards for a second year would be the icing on the cake - or the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict - of an amazing 2016 for Brunch,” said Sharon.

She added the premises had seen an instant surge in customers since winning the gong last year and that it had a huge impact for the business in 2016 with turnover doubling and staff increased from six to nine.

“What was lovely was that our customers bought in cards and gifts to congratulate us and

the phone was ringing non-stop with celebratory messages. People were proud of what we’d done for the community," added Sharon.

"After such a successful year, we’re seeking new premises within the same locality to triple our space from six to 18 covers, hire even more drivers and invest in catering equipment such as a brand new smoker oven to help with our exciting plans to launch an evening bistro in 2017.”

People have until October 6 to nominate a takeaway they think has what it takes to be the best in the North West.

Graham Corfield, UK managing director of Just Eat, added: “We want the people of the North West to nominate those places and tell us what makes them special.

“Brunch’s customers certainly did that last year. There were some very strong contenders for best takeaway in the North West, but what we loved about Brunch was their dedication to provide great food and excellent customer service.”
