A RESIDENT has expressed horror at finding a dead pony dumped by the side of a road during a morning walk.
The pony was seen at the side of Garswood Old Road yesterday and was reported to the council.
Sue Williams, from Pewfall, contacted the Star and said: "I returned from walking my dog down Garswood Old Road and was absolutely horrified and disgusted to see that someone has dumped a dead pony in the lane.
"This terrible act has took fly tipping to an all time low. Whoever did this to this poor animal obviously did not love it in life and have certainly no respect for it in death.
"It has been such an upsetting experience and one you would not expect to see on your doorstep."
A spokesman for St Helens Council confirmed the authority had received a report yesterday and that the body had been cleared this morning.
