HUNDREDS of family members, loved ones and friends are expected to come together at St John's CE Church in Ravenhead today (Wednesday) as Daniel Fox is to be laid to rest.

The funeral of the 29-year-old from Thatto Heath will start at noon, with the service followed by committal at St Helens Crematorium Chapel.

To mark the occasion, the town hall clock will be lit up in blue today and The Steve Prescott Bridge will also be illuminated.

Danny, a former doorman at both Dreem and Zoo bars, who had more recently been working as a carer for autistic children, died after suffering a single stab wound to the upper torso on North John Street during the early hours of Friday, September 2.

The tragedy shocked communities across St Helens – and events held in Danny's memory have included a balloon release in Thatto Heath Park, a charity walk through the town and the SPB lighting up in blue for three nights from the Monday following his death.

Community fundraisers have collected more than £20,000 in his memory - to go towards funeral costs and possibly a permanent memorial.

Danny, known as 'blue eyes' and 'foxy' to friends, was well known to the town's tattooing community and had appeared on e4 programme Tattoo Fixers. After his death, tattoo studios in St Helens took part in community efforts to raise funds in his memory by creating special fox designs.

It is thought the number of mourners attending the funeral at the church, in Crossley Road, will exceed the building's 250 capacity.
