A YOUNG child is in a "serious condition" in hospital after sustaining head injuries after being involved in a collision with a car.
The child is being treated in hospital, although the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, add police.
Police and ambulance were called after the child pedestrian was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall on Junction Lane, Sutton at around 4.45pm.
The child, who police say is below 13, was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital with head injuries.
Police say the ithe child was "conscious and breathing" when emergency services attended.
The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with enquiries. Junction Lane is currently closed between Cecil Street and Hoghton Road.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 4.45pm to a report of a collision which involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a pedestrian who was a young child.
"Police are still on scene and the road is still closed between Cecil Street and Hoghton Road."
