POLICE brought in special powers to tackle anti-social behaviour over the weekend after reports of disorder in Church Square on Friday night.
Officers secured a Dispersal Zone under 'Section 35 ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014’, which gave them powers to move on troublemakers.
The area covered included Church Street to Chalon Way, Chalon Way to Bridge Street, Bridge Street to Church Street.
The order was in place from Saturday evening until the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police stressed that the zone did affect people visiting the town centre's bar or restaurants.
The Star reported how similar powers were used in Queens Park last week.
Anyone who wants to report anti-social behaviour can contact the police on 101.
