THE Paws In The Park dog show proved a barking success once again as thousands turned up at Sherdley Park for the day.

The annual show held its ninth staging and was held in aid of The Dogs Trust Merseyside.

Organiser Adam Fraser, 32, has been the driving force behind what was initially the Taylor Park Family Fun Day which began in 2008.

Adam has seen the event, which he dubs "his baby" grow from its first year when around 200 people turned up, with thousands now attending each year.

The 2016 version saw Best in Show won by Kim Brecon from Harvey's Army with her 19-month-old dog Henry. They had emerged victorious in the Best Rescue category.

Entertainment also included a fun fair, a variety of stalls, face-painting, Caribbean food and much more.

"It was a brilliant day and continued the success of the event," said Adam, from Grange Park.

"In the morning it was very foggy and then by dinner time we were all getting a sun tan it was that hot.

"We had around four to 5,000 people attend and around 48 stalls and we had 200 dogs enter the dog show.

"The event raised £400 for the dogs trust with more money still to come in.

"Next year will be our tenth year so we are going to do a big celebration we are looking for any companies that would like to sponsor the event."
