A CHARITY says it has reaffirmed its commitment to older people in the borough by opening a new town centre office.
Age UK Mid Mersey unveiled its new base at 6 Barrow Street, St Helens, with the Mayor and Mayoress of St Helens, Councillors David and Jeanette Banks, guests of honour.
The office provides a range of insurance products and services, independent living aids, lottery, and funeral plans, as well as extensive information, advice, advocacy and signposting under its ‘SHAIR’ services.
SHAIR (St Helens Advocacy & Information Resource) is a free, confidential and impartial service for all eligible people, aged 18 and above, and their families, helping them to make informed choices to improve their lives.
Working in partnership with St Helens Coalition of Disabled People, and Deafness Resource Centre, SHAIR are able to give a comprehensive service from signposting right through to advocacy.
The previous office had been on Claughton Street for more than 30 years.
