THE family of a cancer sufferer who has been told her condition is terminal have organised a special evening of fun and laughter for her and her carers.

Mum Nicola Lilly, 44, was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. However, Nicola, who is originally from Thatto heath and lives in Peasley Cross, developed a brain tumour and was shocked when told that it could not be removed completely.

Nicola, who worked as a catering assistant manager, has been on radiotherapy treatment and is now seeking alternative treatment at Willowbrook.

Nicola's 21-year-old daughter Ashleigh has organised a cocktail and quiz night for her mum and to say thank you to Macmillan for the support they have given to her and the family.

"When they moved the tumour they said they can't get rid of it and we can just try to control it," said Nicola's sister Tracey.

"She had been quite positive about the illness and she's been to Willowbrook and now waiting for an opening for alternative therapy and pain management.

"Nicola is a really outgoing person, she's just a laugh and really bubbly, we just want to have a special night. She is hoping to be fit enough to enjoy the night.

"It means so much for Ashleigh and given her something to focus on. She arranged it and wanted to do it in appreciation for what they have done for her mum.

"We have had lots of donations from lots of people, Nicola can't believe the generosity. We just wanted to raise as much as we can for them."

The evening takes place at Blackbrook rugby club on Saturday (September 24) starting at 7.30pm.
