RUGBY league legend Paul Sculthorpe will kick start the walk at Sherdley Park tomorrow (Saturday) which raises funds for Whiston and St Helens hospitals.

Children, mums, dads, grannies and granddads, dogs... anyone can join the fun in the pirate and princess-themed family charity walk 'Walk the Park'.

Proceeds will go to the hospitals' charity to buy new equipment, provide extra special therapies and brighten the lives of patients at both hospitals.

There will be two route options - a 5k walk and a 2k toddle for those with small children, or who don't want to walk as far.

There will also be a bouncy castle, climbing wall, magician and face painters.

A spokesperson for St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: "We are delighted to have Paul Sculthorpe coming along to support this, our first ever charity walk and family fun day.

"We encourage people to come along and get involved and help us raise money for this worthy cause which makes patients' life that bit brighter."

The event begins at 10.30am with the walk starting at noon.

To book tickets, costing £5.50 for adults and over-10s with under-10s going free, go to WShospitalsCharity.org/WalkThePark.
