AN 88-YEAR-OLD man was taken to hospital after a three-car crash on the Rainford bypass yesterday afternoon.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were all called to the scene at around 3.30pm.
Wreckage from vehicles was removed and a traffic light at the bypass was destroyed.
Fire crews gave oxygen to an 88-year-old man, who was assesed at the scene by paramedics and taken to Whiston Hospital for further checks.
A 54-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman from one of the other vehicles were assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
And a 63-year-old man was assessed by paramedics but did not require treatment at the scene.
Two fire engines and a Search and Rescue team attended, which stayed for around an hour.
