AN ANIMAL lover who set up a dog show says he feels overwhelmed by its success ahead of its ninth annual staging.

Adam Fraser, 32, has been the driving force behind what was initially the Taylor Park Family Fun Day which began in 2008.

The show proved a great success eventually outgrew its original venue and has been moved to Sherdley Park for the last couple of years and being renamed Paws In The Park For The Dogs Trust Merseyside.

The show raises money for the Dogs Trust, having previously raised proceeds for the RSPCA, where Adam used to work.

Despite having left the RSPCA, Adam makes sure the annual occasion will continue to help animals when he decided to put the proceeds towards the Dog Trust Merseyside branch.

Adam says he is thrilled to have seen the event, which he calls "his baby" grow from its first year when around 200 people turned up, with thousands now attending each year.

Entertainment at this year's show will include the dog show, a fun fair, a variety of stalls, face-painting, Caribbean food and much more.

Dance group are called The Dolly Daydreams will perform on the day.

"This will be the ninth year of the show and I'm the brains behind it," said Adam, from Grange Park.

"I just feel amazed that I managed to keep this event going, it's been going for nine years. I just thought it would be a two or three year event but people just wanted to keep coming and kept talking to me about it."

This year's paws In The Park takes place on Sunday, September 18 at Sherdley Park on Marshall Cross Road running from 11am to 4pm.
