CHAINSAW carving and falconry demonstrations will be among the attractions at an annual craft fair being held in the glorious setting of Victoria Park this Sunday (August 21).

Running from noon to 5pm, the event showcases the various techniques and ancient ways of working from bygone times, and is part of an ongoing list of events being held in the Green-Flag award-winning park.

Other attractions at this year’s fair include a harp maker, falconry displays, a pole lathe demonstration, chainsaw carving, tarot card reading – and much more.

As reported by the Star, Victoria Park recently joined more than 1,600 parks and green spaces across the UK in flying the prestigious Green Flag Award.

Managed by Keep Britain Tidy, the award is judged by an army of more than 700 green space experts, who volunteer their time to visit applicant sites and assess them against eight strict criteria, including horticultural standards, cleanliness, sustainability and community involvement.

In total, 1,686 parks, cemeteries, universities, shopping centres and community gardens have met the high standard needed to receive the Green Flag Award or Green Flag Community Award, the quality marks for parks and green spaces.
