THIS year's Newton Town Show is set to soar this weekend with an RAFBattle of Britain Memorial Flight and a helicopter tour among the attractions.

The established annual event, which takes place in Mesnes Park, will also include a HUEY army attack helicopter, motorbike display team and classic car show.

People who have a classic motor are invited to bring it down and enter from Park Road North.

The fly past by the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will take place at around 1pm.

There is also the chance to win a Helicopter Pleasure Flight of Newton-le-Willows and the surrounding area. Raffle tickets to win the tour – for you and two friends – can be bought for just £2. Flights can also be purchased in the park at a cost of £25 per person.

The Newton Town Show will take place on Saturday, August 6 running from 11am to 5pm.

Organisers hope it will have positive spin offs for the Newton economy, drawing visitors to its shops, business, restaurants and pubs.

Chairman of the organising committee, Newton councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron, said: “We work extremely hard to make the show bigger and better each year, with proceeds ploughed back into the Newton and Earlestown Community Group to make this possible.

“Thank you to the local businesses that support us with sponsorship, with a special mention going to THINK Estate Agents in Earlestown for being our main sponsor this year.

“Support from the public has been massive and we hope to see that grow even bigger.”

Free shuttle bus rides will be available from Earlestown to Mesnes Park on the day, courtesy of the Museum of Road Transport.
