A GROUP of parents aiming to improve support for families of young people using mental health services are asking more parents and carers to get involved.
The parent and carer involvement group, which meets each month, has created an educational video and leaflet to raise awareness of child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) provided in St Helens by 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The video and leaflet give an insight into services from a parent's perspective and help break down some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding CAMHS.
Vicky Jolly, operational manager for 5 Boroughs Partnership, said: "Joining CAMHS can often feel a bit daunting for parents and this can feel even more overwhelming if they don't know what to expect.
"The group wanted to give other parents in a similar situation an honest insight into what being involved with CAMHS means for the whole family, not just for the young person."
