ST Helens Tri enjoyed a remarkable run of success over the Ironman UK fortnight. Robert Chesters won the Endurance Store Duathlon last Tuesday and four days later Mark Turner and Adam Jones won their age groups at the Conwy Duathlon and Crosby Junior Aquathlon respectively.
The biggest success story, however, was that of Phil Ellison who once again excelled at IMUK, placing an outstanding 55th overall in a time of 10:28:52 and heading a further five club members led by Eddie Hirst, who finished inside the top 200 in his first Ironman, and Craig Abbott, who broke the 12 hour mark.
In addition Kevin Dunbar has simply kept on running and followed up his top-30 finish at the Sefton Park 5 Mile race and sub 90 minute time at the Cheshire Half Marathon by placing 37th in unseasonably cold and wet conditions at the Snowdonia Trail Half Marathon.
