A DOG owner was ordered to pay out more than £500 after being found guilty of a dog fouling offence at Liverpool Magistrates Court today (July 22).
Lee Jones, of Fell Grove, St Helens, has to pay a total of £512.80.
Jones was fined £80 after being found guilty in his absence for not paying a fixed penalty notice, after being observed failing to remove dog muck on Lorton Avenue, Moss Bank, by a dog welfare and enforcement officer.
The court heard how on February 25 this year, Jones allowed his dog to foul on a grassed area outside residential properties and walked off without making any attempt to clear up.
Jones was issued with a fixed penalty notice - which was not paid within the prescribed time limit.
He was fined £80, with costs of £412.80, and also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20.
