AND the award for outstanding parking goes to the driver of this motor which had been left parked with total disregard for pedestrians.

The motor was snapped by a furious young mum from Rainford who was forced to walk into the road with her baby in a buggy by the vehicle which had been left at an angle across the solitary pavement along Thickwood Moss Lane, leaving just a few inches between its wheels and the hedge.

She said: "I am so fed up of having to dodge cars which block your way on footpaths in the village. But this really took the biscuit."

"Thickwood Moss is now a one-way system and the car was parked immediately after a junction which some drivers whizz round as they know they will not meet any oncoming traffic. So I felt really nervous about stepping into the road with my precious little one.

"I've been told that it is an offence for a car parked on a pavement to be blocking the way for wheelchairs and prams. Perhaps the police could be more active to combat this growing hazard."
