THE man who died after a collision with a Range Rover on the M6 at Haydock has been named by police.
Joseph Pidgeon, 25, was killed after he was struck by the vehicle last Friday night (July 1).
Police were called at 10.50pm on the night to reports of the incident on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 23 and 24.
The M6 was closed for more than six hours as crash scene investigators examined the site.
Mr Pidgeon, from Wigan, died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Range Rover stopped at the scene, between Junction 23, for Haydock, and Junction 24, for St Helens, and is helping police with enquiries.
An investigation into Mr Pidgeon’s death has been launched and anyone with any information is asked to contact the MSOC Roads Policing team on 0151 777 5747 or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
