FIREFIGHTERS will host a charity car wash to raise funds for angelman syndrome sufferer Melissa Adams.

Taking place at Eccleston Community Fire Station on Saturday between 10am and 4pm the effort will also help the Fire Fighters Charity as well as Melissa's 'Smile Fund'.

The condition means Melissa is unable to speak, has poor mobility skills, suffers epilepsy and needs 24-hour care.

Funds raised from the car wash will go towards providing Melissa, from Eccleston, with essential equipment she needs as she grows up.

This includes a sensory room, which Melissa’s family hope to create as a place of calm for Melissa when she has seizures and when her lack of communications skills prove too much for her.

The Fire Fighter’s Charity provides treatment and support for serving and retired firefighters, and their families, in times of need.

Watch Manager Steve McHale said: “Firefighters from Red Watch at Eccleston Community Fire Station have organised a joint charity car wash with Melissa’s family and friends to assist in raising money for two great causes.

“We hope everyone who lives nearby, or who is visiting the area on Saturday, will come along to show their support however they can.

“It will be a great day and hopefully we can help raise funds for two very well-deserving charities.”
