A MAN has been arrested in connection with an assault at a service station in Sutton, St Helens on Thursday (June 23).

At around 7.45am, officers received reports of a man, 25, being attacked through the window of his car at Caldo Service Station on Worsley Brow, Sutton.

The offender allegedly punched and grabbed the ear of the victim, causing bleeding and bruising.

It is believed that the suspect then made off on a motorcycle ridden by an unknown accomplice.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Following enquiries by St Helens CID, a 26-year-old man from Sutton was arrested on suspicion of assault.

"He has been bailed pending further enquiries."

The victim remains in hospital for treatment on the ear injury.
