PUPILS from Lansbury Bridge special school in have made a full-length feature film which will be screened at St Helens Cineworld on July 1.

Drama students from the school in Lansbury Avenue, Parr, have set their tale in the year 2056 and the action takes three brave students on an adventure involving time travel, ghosts, zombies... and bad hair.

The after-school drama club has been running for seven years and members have performed a number of plays, including The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella - as well as original productions about The '80s and the history of television.

The club, run by Andrew Maddock and Kirsty Hesketh, this year the group decided to make the movie, calling it 'Rewind'.

Teaching assistant Andrew said: "Rewind is a film based around Lansbury Bridge drama club. It is the year 2056 and Andrew and Kirsty are running out of ideas for a new play, so they decide to stop the drama club.

"Three pupils find a time machine and look back at all the previous great scenes that could be put in Lansbury Bridge's drama club school play 2056.

"They visit ex-pupils performing great scenes from Star Wars, ET, The Shawshank Redemption, Teen Wolf and others. They hope that if they can find enough ideas they can save the drama club."

He added: "A lot of the ideas - as well as the use of costumes and special effects - for this film came from the pupils. It is a fantastic achievement."

Rewind, which runs for around 90 minutes, will premiere at St Helens Cineworld July 1 for the cast and parents only. It will be shown to the rest of the school on July 18.
